About Calendar:
Calendar is a collaborative project by textile craftsperson and artist Masaki Komoto and graphic designer Yuri Sato. Initiated in 2021, the project uses needlework samplers as a starting point to explore various ways of bringing needlecraft and graphic design together. They search for fresh approaches to needlecraft by introducing aesthetics usually associated with graphic design, whilst simultaneously respecting centuries old techniques used in sewing and embroidery. For their calendar series, each yearly calendar draws on different ideas and phenomena associated with graphic design and needlework.

This project is supported by the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (AFK).
