Pattern Place is a project by Anouk Beckers and Alessandra Varisco, grounded in a shared obsession for (paper) patterns. Pattern Place is a space that invites engagement with pattern making to critically investigate the fashion industry. 

Pattern Place Magazine is a modular publication developed as part of this project. It was created to share their research and creative practice with a wider community.

The magazine unfolds into one pattern made intuitively based on an image from Vogue September issue 2025, accompanied by the following texts:
-‘Introduction to Pattern Place’ by Anouk Beckers and Alessandra Varisco.
The text explains how pattern making is a tactic and the pattern a tool that can be interpreted from a personal and intuitive perspective.
-‘Garment Resurrected - Zombies Deflected’ by Femke de de Vries.
-‘Un-Mastering the Pattern’ by Tanveer Ahmed. 

This first issue is published in 13 variations, all sharing a pattern made intuitively during a Pattern Place workshop at Modestraat in Amsterdam. For this workshop, Image Observation and Garment Translation, they started with selecting images from the Vogue September issue 2025. These images were translated during the workshop into a set of paper patterns. With many thanks to: Ada, Ana, Bo, Brittany, Femke, Floortje, Lois, Mania, Nienke, Robin, Robin, Youngeun and Zeina.
